I made a booking with RailEurope for a Eurostar trip from London to Paris. When I tried to login to the Eurostar site to change my allocated seat I found that I could not. When I contacted RailEurope, I was told that I could not modify the booking, nor could I cancel and get a refund. When I purchased the seat, I scrutinised the terms and conditions and there was no mention of this. This is only communicated after the sale. In my country, this is an illegal business practice. You cannot impose and enforce restrictions after the sale. These have to be communicated upfront.

I am stuck with this but my recommendation is DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH RAILEUROPE. Book directly with the rail company.

PalenQ, I think you need to read the OP again. Nowhere does the poster say that they have already "used the train." What they said was that the TICKET they received was marked second class and the poster said the compartment they chose was marked first class on the website.

Paris25- YEAH! That's what almost all posters on this site recommend daily.

bettyk - it hardly matters what PalenQ is responding to since the OP's complaint is almost 2 years old.

yeh it is typical for folks like me not to notice that a thread is say two years old but anyway it could be of general interest to anyone.
