Comparative cost to Cambridge from Stansted and Gatwick
I am trying to figure out the cost of land transportation from Stansted and Gatwick to Cambridge. The reason is simple: I am flying in either from Bergerac or Toulouse. The cost of the flight from the former is twice as expensive as from the latter, but lands in Stansted. Will ground transportation even out the cost?

Trains may be better - direct service from Cambridge to Stansted and Gatwick has direct trains to Kings Cross (about a mile from Liverpool Street Station from where the Stansted Express leaves - due to transfer direct bus may be better. But to find train fares for Cambridge-Stansted and Gatwick-Stansted: www.nationalrail.co.uk will give you all the rail prices. Much cheaper from Cambridge to Stansted, which is very close. Time savings may also be a consideration.

Well from Gatwick to Stansted if it's 50 pounds that means the London Plus railpass would be cheaper - gives you two days on unlimited travel on any train line in wide area radiating out of London, including Gatwick and Cambridge - $70 for two days of unlimited travel in 8 day period - cheaper than 50 pounds - so if going the Gatwick route look into that (I use BETs 800-441-2387 for any British train info - UK rail experts i've used for years). Not sold in Britain and if you're British can't use however. Could use pass in Cambridge to day trip to London - also comes in longer versions for not much more.

No the www.nationalrail.co.uk site can't even beat your 6 pounds - it lists Southern trains cheapest as 9 pounds. Where do you get 6 pounds?
