cologne - hotel, which area you advise to stay?
hello,
i am going to stay at clogone with my mother and my son (age 13) for 3 days at october.
i didnt understank which is the best area to stay if we want to walk by foot and have near by restaurants and shops and also feel safe at night,
i would be much appriciate for help in this metter,

We stayed near the Cathedral. This is the old part (and for us, the most interesting) of the city. It is near Ludwig museum, near a lot of narrow streets, near commercial streets and near Rhine (you can take a boat for a cruise).
It is also near train station and this was a plus for us, as we traveled by train.
We made a half day trip to Bruhl (15 min. by train) to see there a beautiful palace.
We felt very safe all the time.

qwovadis, i looked where the hotels located, is this a safe place to stay at night? is there restaurants and shops at this specific area?

Hagar, unfortunately I don't remember the name of the hote. I was there in 2006. I know that was ~ 80 Euro double room, breakfast included.

We almost all the time book via booking.com; they do not ask for money in advance, you can easy change the dates or cancel.
You can see there or in Tripadvisor opinions of people for different hotels.
