Coliseum questions

Can anyone tell me if the Coliseum is open everyday? what is the cost to tour it? Do you need a gude? Would it be open on Easter Sunday?

We were there last summer and we took a guide. The line was very long for tickets, but there was no line if you wanted to get an in-house (pretty big house!!) guide. Only a few Euro. more pp, small group, excellent background on the Coliseum, and after the 45 mins or so guided tour, you could explore on your own.
Not sure if they are open on Easter.

It's normally open every day from 9 am. The closing time depends on the time of year--at that time of year it's 7:30. Entrance fee for Colosseum and Palatine is 8 Euros (w/o guide). The official website doesn't list holiday closings, but that doesn't necesarily mean it will be open on Easter.

We were there two weeks ago. The basic ticket was 10 E, and we hooked up with one of those tours that added 6 E to the ticket. You bypass the line (which is not bad this time of the year, but can get dreadful at other times, I guess), you get your intro to the place (our guide was very entertaining), with the option of doing a tour of the Palatine Hill (whatever is open there -we didn't do that - it was getting chilly, and we had little ones) later. It was worth the extra 6 E.
