A gore-tex windstopper, you may as well take my advice and wear a duvet which is ultimately more stylish.

I took two coats in November and was glad I did. Everything I had read made it sound as if the weather in November was up and down. My dark trench coat with a liner and my camel hair dress coat. I enjoy dressing up a bit. A couple of mornings the rain coat got rather sodden, by evening, I was glad I had something else when the rain had stopped. I did OK packing light otherwise, one small bag but I am a luggage checker when I fly non-stop.

Definitely take the wool coat and don't forget the extras that'll also help keep you warm (a hat, scarf & gloves). Don't forget when they say the "average temp is in 40's", that'll be the high for the day. You may start your morning out being 30 degrees.

My apologies for the bad manners flying around the Europe board lately. This thread isn't the only one gone wonky. Usually we are a much more helpful, or if not helpful, then silent, bunch.

Because of the humidity, weather in the 40's will seem much colder in Europe than Arizona. My wife froze to death in Amsterdam in March, and she wore a heavy wool coat, scarf, gloves, etc. (We live in Utah) Dress in layers and be prepared for all types of weather.

m_kingdom, Im not sure which country you reside in but where I live it is possible to purchase Goretex Windstoppers which are fashionable. Although I get the feeling that you have no fashion sense whatsoever. Perhaps it is time for you to stick to replying where you can be of some use to people!

I always seem to have a "coat crisis" on winter trips. I would go with the wool coat or something even lighter that you can wear layers under. You know that temperature predictions are never all that reliable.
