I went to a wedding at Cliveden House in Berks about 5 years ago and stayed one night. This was the former home of Lady Astor. Is this the same place you are talking about, Jamila, because I thought it was in Berks, not Taplow??? It is a magnificent property with a spa, great food, and you can go boating on the Thames. I didn't pay for anything (I was brought by an invited guest to the wedding--I didn't even have to give a gift!), so to me the experience was even more spectacular. Oh, and I had a valet too!!!!

Cliveden is owned by the National Trust: http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/scripts/nthandbook.dll?ACTION=PROPERTY&PROPERTYID=259< BR>
Actually it's in Buckinghamshire. That's Berkshire across the Thames from it.

Oh, stupid me. Now, somewhere in the back of my brain I knew that Berks was short for Berkshire, and that it was a county, not a town.(My aunt and uncle live in Old Windsor, which is in Berkshire.) Sometimes you have to hit me over the head with a short plank.

Jamila, I don't know if Cliveden is a 7-star establishment, but, it was pretty swank. It is hard for me to remember because I was only there for 24 hours and it was over 5 years ago. And I have traveled all over the world and have stayed at places like the Pen in HK, and the Oriental in BK. But, I think you would not be disappointed by Cliveden. Yes, IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE. I heard the wedding I was invited to cost a quarter of a million pounds.
