City Univ. of London area

We're meeting a former student of ours for lunch next week. She is attending CIty U of London--can anyone suggest a nice, moderately priced restaurant or pub in the area? We'd like to take her some place that she probably wouldn't go on a student budget without breaking ours.

Do you know which part she's attending? The Uni is spread over an area from Islington (which has hundreds if suitable restaurants), down to Farringdon and beyond. I presume you want somewhere you can walk to.

She's in grad. school studying optometry. It would probably be better to be within walking distance as I don't know how long of a break she'll have.

huebie-

I believe what Kate meant in her message is that which campus your friend is studying at. The City U of London is spread out all over London with multiple campuses. We cannot give you suggestions unless you tell us which campus she is at.

The department of Optometry is at 311-321 Goswell Road London EC1V 7DD, 200 yards south of Saddlers Wells theatre, and 500 yards south of Angel tube station. A bus route runs past it. The site http://www.sadlers-wells.com/theatre.../meal_deal.asp lists some nearby restaurants. The corner of Roseberry Avenue and St John Street is one bus stop north of the Department, and has a range of ethic restaurants. Or, I should think your student will know.

Welcome to London

Thanks, Ben. That should give us plenty from which to choose. All I knew was that she was near the Angel stop--she didn't tell me any more. We leave tomorrow, hooray!
