Circumvesuviana

I am planning to to take the Circumvesuviana train from Naples to Sorrento next month. My wife and I will have two fairly large suitcases. Anyone know how luggage is accomodated on this train?

You will need to keep it with you. The Circumvesuviana is one train on which you'll really want to keep your property close.

We got off the tran at Naples and went to get our tickets for the Circumvesuviana and heard that dredful response, STRIKE. Having been to Italy seveal times I asked how long it would last and the replay was noon. Since you have luggage you may have to wait it our. We asked the teller if there was another way to Herculaneum and we took the bus. We visited Herculaneun climbed the hill to the station and caught the Circumvesuvians at 1:00. You will need to keep the suitcase close to you. The train is like a subway train, we had plenty of room but no place for baggage. We stayed two nights at Sorrento but we just had backpacks. The trains are like metro or subway trains, with lots of automatic sliding doors which open at the frequent station stops. At peak commuting times, many people stand.
