When I was there in mid-May, it was still closed. The walk between Manarola & Corniglia is very pleasant; and although not paved like the Riomaggiore to Manarola trek, it is easily manageable for a non-hiker.

Might check website on CT:
http://www.cinqueterre.it/index_e.htm

I hiked the Vernazza to Monterroso trail in May 1997 (before the Big Storm). There were beautiful pink wildflowers and cascading yellow-flowered bushes all along the trail, among other flora. The views were simply unforgettable, although in hindsight going from Monterroso to Vernazza might be even better. This route was longer than the Via Del Amore (sp?), but more memorable. Perhaps rkl can tell us whether this particular segment is safe to hike now.

I checked several of my bookmarked websites on the Cinque Terre (below) and couldn't find an answer as to whether or not the Riomaggiore-Manarola (a/k/a Via Dell'Amore) is now open.

http://www.cinque-terre.it/english/englishindex.htm

http://home.sunrise.ch/avong/cinque_terre/index.htm

http://www.italyone.com/Welcome/Liguria/Cinqueterre/

http://www.navigazionegolfodeipoeti.it/homee.html
