It looks like Pastis feels totally and blissfully at home. He's a nice size--easy to pick up if you feel like it, but big enough that he doesn
t look fragile.
Your friend's bird is an African gray parrot? Those birds can be amazing. They actually express themselves verbally (they don't just "parrot"
and can even express humor. A good friend of mine has seven tropical birds including two African greys, one of whom is brilliant (and the other one isn't stupid either).

Loved the photos of your new dog. I can't help myself, I have to ask, in what way have you "adapted" Pastis, he looked quite normal to me. Maybe he doesn't require feeding?
