CIE Tours - Bus info

I have a question for my 78 year old mother and her 83 year old husband. They would like to do a bus tour of Ireland. I have looked at CIE and it looks good for them. My mother's husband is concerned about being on a bus tour because being elderly, he requires frequent bathroom stops. Do the CIE buses have bathrooms on board? Strange question perhaps, but reality for some. Thanks

Why not go to the source: www.cietours.com

There is a "contact us" link at the bottom.

I actually have e-mailed CIE and have not heard back yet. I thought I could get the information faster thru Fodors. Anyone have the answer?

My husband and I took a CIE tour last March. The driver/guide was absolutely wonderful, his name was Deklan (sp). The bus did not have a bathroom on it but frequent stops were made. We had a mix of people in their 20's to 70's and it worked out fine, although the group was put together by our local Irish pub.

My bus tours didn't have bathrooms either. But it is NO problem if you need to stop. On our last tour a young girl needed to stop almost once an hour, you'll find many other people will get off at the same time "just in case". The tour guide & bus driver didn't mind at all but did ask us to refrain from lurking so we don't get too far behind schedule, but again no problens.
As for CIE I can only say the best, if you do a text search you'll find a few reviews I posted.

message: My daughter and I are going to Ireland on a CIE bus tour. She is 25 and I am 52. We hope there is a mix of different ages. We leave tomarrow-
I heard the tour is very good by a reliable source and I will write about it when we come back and let people know how good it was. natjgc

My niece and I did a CIE tour in May. We had a wonderful time and the absolutely greatest driver. When he wasn't talking history to us he was either singing or telling jokes. The distances are so short, you are rarely on the bus for very long. We had a great mix of all ages.

CIE was great, absolutely no complaints. The hotels that they set us up in were very good.

message: opaldog Just got back from Ireland
My daughter and I just got
back from a CIE bus tour of Southwestern, South and Southeastern
Ireland. I think the CIE tour is
definitely geared for elderly people
that enjoy riding in a bus for long
periods of time. There are many breaks(bathroom and refreshment)
to break up the day between seeing the sights but my daughter and I were very bored for most of the time.
I am 52 and a very active person and my daughter is 25 and also active.
The age ranges really vary- but for the most part, your mother and step father will love a bus tour like this.
The people on the bus that were 60- 72
really loved it and were very pleased.

We've doe 3 bus tours with CIE and I think when you tour any entire country you will spend a lot of time traveling from one place to another. I was never bored and enjoyed just taking in the natural beauty of the counrty while traveling to each destination. I'm 32 & my spouse is 40 and have traveled 2 times with the inlaws that are 65 and 75. There were both young (30ish, some newlyweds) as well as middle aged and seniors.
