ciao da Venezie...

Arrived yesterday to bone grey skies and rain but the Adriatic had a luminous jade green quality to it. Partly cloudy skies and no rain for the rest of the week. Unfortunately no aqua altra. Staying at Locanda Orseolo - a wonderful homey, gracious hotel. Did the water bus on the Grand Canal today and got deliriously lost wandering back streets. I can see why people fall in love with Venice. Tranquilo - serence - decaying beauty (kinda like myself). Will check in again later on this week.

Ahhh. two weeks ago I was there!

I hope the 'grey' lifts for you - one of our three days it was so thick the vaporettos were on limited service and we couldn't get to Torcello/Burano

If the fog clears, find the Bovolo staircase - its wonderful!

Sigh....wishing I were back, as well. Got home a little over a week ago.

Being from the tropics, the grey skies and fog was one of our favorite parts of the trip.

Enjoy the rest of your time in magical Venezia Carta.

Blue skies and mild temps for the day. Toured the Palazzo Ducale - the grand room with the huge Tintoretto painting is amazing. Had lunch in Dosoduro - away from the masses of pigeon feeding tourists (flying rats - the pigeons that is)Toured the Accedemia then sat in a cafe on campo Stefano reading City of Falling Angels (fun read though the author seems to pasturize all the characters into his voice). Off to Padua tomorrow for the day and a Michelin three star lunch. Ci vediamo.

Please give an update about your trip to Padua -- we are thinking of doing that next trip to Venezia.
