In addition to your excellence as a photographer, you are also a gifted cinematographer! I am always amazed at what can be created in a store window…it's almost as much fun to watch the reactions of the children gathered in front of the windows. We will be there to see these very windows in two weeks! Thanks for whetting my appetite!

When we were in Paris at Christmas in 2006, I did a video, and one of the songs featured all the Christmas decorations we saw while we were there during that week. I especially remember the decorations at Galeries Lafayette and Printemps. Great memories. Thanks Kerouac.

Tdudette...we grew up the same as far as "no Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving"! ( Which now is in serious danger of being eaten alive by Black Friday).
Am horrified that my husband loves the house decorated so much, that we put up tree #1 on Nov 1 this year. He figures since we will be traveling over Christmas, that we should enjoy the decorations as much as possible.
Maitaitom...your Christmas video sealed it for us when we chose Paris at Christmas in 2010 .

Same here, TDudette and denisea - nothing until after Thanksgiving. Denisea, November 1st?! He has a point, but that's REALLY early. Reminds me of when we lived in New Orleans. The Christmas tree would become a Mardi Gras tree (different decorations, of course) come January 6th - and ended up being left up for months.
Great report, kerouac - such clarity in your photos. So true about cats. My sister has a Xmas tree figure collection she puts out on a credenza every year. Every day, the cat will knock one of them over. Just one. Sometimes the same one, but often not; and she'll put it back in its place. This game goes on for the entire holiday season. Anyway, thanks for taking me to Paris for a little while....

Thanks so much for posting---am coming next month with my daughter and grand daughter. Have been in Rome that time of year and it was beautiful but never before Paris---you sure have gotten me even more excited about the trip!

What a treat Kerouac. Thank you.
Last year I wanted to show my friends that beautiful stained glass dome at Galleries Lafayette and I just couldn't find it. Must have been another location. I sent them this link to prove that it does exist.

I have been looking for more Christmas stuff, but frankly, the department stores start Christmas so early that you have to wait a couple of weeks at least to start seeing the other stuff. Obviously, I could go take some photos of the Champs Elysées Christmas market, but I don't see the point until the Champs Elysées illuminations have been inaugurated.
