Christmas Markets
Does anyone have any suggestions as to the regions Christmas Markets? I went to Germany last year and toured Frankfurt, Nuremburg, Ruedesheim, and Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber and thought the markets were enchanting. Would like to explore other northern country markets. Perhaps Denmark or Sweden or Finland? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!!

Vienna has some lovely ones, and in Berlin there is a Christmas market on every corner. Vienna would be my preference - there is more variety in the stalls and the settings are prettier - whereas in Berlin the same products are repeated a lot.
I've never been to Scandinavia in winter, so can't comment on their markets.

For karameli,
I love Montreux and visit often, and I happened to be visiting once during the Christmas market. It was horrible! The shops are fake-wood prefab chalets that line the promenade and the main street in town. They sell clothing, accessories, jewelry, and wine. There were some outdoor stalls that held animals for a petting zoo, and that was ok. But if you're looking for gemuetlichen charm, handmade decorations and toys, & gluehwein, it's not Montreux.
