SundAy 12/20. Our last visitor to the apartment in Paris left today. She was out the door around 8 am to a waiting g G7 taxi..both visitors have used this service and we will also when we leave Tuesday am..they have an English speaking line and so far are always 5 minutes early...we cleaned up showered and went out for the day...we went to the 12 to walk along the promenade plantee..it is an old elevated train track now made into a park...we took the metro all the way to the beginning and walked up to Place Bastille....it was a beautiful sunny day and it was nice just to walk and relax....when we got off the metro at porte doree. We came up out of the metro to a Sunday market....we strolled through the marke, decided to have a coffee prior to walking the platform. It was a great day..tomorrow we begin packing and are going to the La Defense Christmas market

Monday 12/21 last day...biggest mistake....we got up and decide to go to La Defense Christmas market....we had plenty of metro tickets left so off we went...we walked up to Blanche station and took the 2 line to Charles De Gaulle...now we said, let's try the RER. It is only one stop....we followed the sign and reused our metro ticket. It let us through fine..road to La Defense...came up to exit the station...a metro worker was checking tickets...we had been checked the day we came home from Strasbourg in the metro so we had no problem stopping...we thought we are OK....Well NO....I handed him our tickets. He said not valid...66 Euro please...I was almost in tears...I did not understand...but he did not speak English and my French is not good enough for that conversation...but got through it and I said I do not have 66 Euro because I did not..we planned our money carefully as to not take much back to the US...so after a few upset looks.he charged us on 33 Euro ...gave us a receipt and we were let out....lesson learned. Check the zone you are going to!!! Our tickets and the ones the most tourist buy are only good for zone 1. La Defense is in zone 3...we walked around the market but we're really not into it by then. So we came zone on the 1 line to the 2 and had a long lunch on our street...then came home and began the final packing....I am nos sitting at the table with wine and cheese for the final dinner...I love Paris we had a great time despite today...it was totally our fault...home to Carolina tomorrow....29 days we head to the Caribbean in a 10 cruise.....Hope all enjoyed our escapade...
