Christ Stopped at Eboli: the new DVD
Criterion has released the full, four-part version of this classic Italian movie based on the book of the same name. Folks missing Italy just now (know any?) would not regret the effort to seek out this gem. Btw, this movie's soundtrack features some authentic south Italian folk music, the real deal with unedited shrieking vocals and more, among the expected melodramatic instrumentals. There are few other cinematic achievements that depict Basilicata during the mid 1930s as well as this. A true triumph--Bravo!

Resurrecting this thread, as I just read this film will be a feature for June on the Criterion channel. For those interested you can get a 14 day trial for free, but there are so many great films it is well worth the $10.99 a month after.
