If you had to choose between Jules Verne or a dinner cruise in Paris, which one would you choose?

Jules Verne. It's a great place to eat and you have the impressive Eiffel tower to look at. The dinner cruises can be nice, but they are generally describing the sights in different languages. This ends up being more irritating than helpful. I'd prefer to walk along the river and look at the art work for sale.

Jules Verne, of course. Those dinner cruises on the Seine are detestable.

No contest- JV! Are you aware that this is a 1 star Michelin restaurant? those dinner cruises get far more than their cuisine is worth!<BR><BR>Go on a river cruise for just a few Euros from Pont d'Alma, then have dinner at the Jules Verne! Now that is a great night!

I know that I will more then likely be attacked by the Foodie Elite on this board but on 4 trips to Paris with Different People, Hands down everyone has always prefered the Bateaux Mooche Prestiege Dinner Cruise. The Jules Is a wonderful Restaurant and the food is lovely and so is the view. Should you be lucky enough to get a window seat it is perfection. <BR> However the cruise is lovely and lasts about 3 hours. The Boat is all glass and in the prestiege level all the tables are window seats. There is no naration it is on a ticker type board in the bow of the boat all in english.<BR> The service is excellent , includes a Bottle of good champagne, a bottle each of red and white wine and a lovely 4 course meal. Hand made truffles, cognac and a lovely table side dessert.<BR> Yes it is touristy, Typical French dishes Frogs legs, Escargot, Lobster thermadore , Baked Alaska , Apple Tart and Souffle. But where else can you cruise by the Statue of Liberty, The D'orsay, The Eiffel Tower and all the left bank has to offer while a man plays the viloin behind you.<BR> The price was not bad in May I took my MOther and it was about 225 euros for the two of us. <BR> Now for the attacks to come I live outside NYC and know what a great restaurant should be. JV is good, but I have acess to more fine restaurants in NYC then in Paris. Just like when we have friends who come in from Europe and Asia they want to go out on the Spirit of New York Dinner Cruise, along with Smith & Wollensky or Le Circque or Dim Sun & Canoli on a sunday in the City.<BR> I have forgotten all my meals at JV, I however have not forgotten the first Dinner Cruise my husband and I went on , I remember the food, the mmusic and the people we met. How the twinkling Tower brought tears to my eyes( I was on My Honeymoon ) I also know how happy my Mom was with her frogs legs. If you can do both.

The point of the previous post is to BE SURE to take that dinner cruise or the Yachts de Paris cruise for a good meal. The run of the mill are expensive and not good.<BR>Then make a decision. If you have never been to JV, I think that is the ticket.
