Chelsea flower show seeds
I will be in London and I have tickets to attend the Royal Chelsea Flower Show.(yes... I know it will be packed, but it is on my Mom's bucket list). A friend told me that I can bring seeds back to the United States??? I would be transporting them in my carry-on luggage. We will be going to Paris after London. Can I do this? Can I mail the seeds back to myself?

so generally, only if you have the right permits and paperwork can you import seeds.

Seeds of what? If they are legal for delivery in the States, you can order them from the various stalls to be shipped home. The exporters will already have the necessary licenses. Or- you can get their cards and order seeds and even plants after you return.
If you carry seeds w/ you -- it is very possible they could be confiscated by customs.
getting an import license could be difficult or impossible depending on what plants you are talking about.
Or best yet - just get the Latin names of what you want and look for US sources on line.

This is how Kudzu arrived to take over the south. How the water chestnuts arrived that are choking the rivers and lakes in places. You used to be allowed to bring in anything....
The ban is in place to try to keep out "invasive" plants that might just thive happily in the US without thier normal 'predators'
