Cheap Scottish Castles
My daughter, age 14, and I are travelling to Scotland in August with her highland dance group. After a week in Edinburough ending with the Tatoo we have 4 days to travel alone. I was hoping to give her a "castle " experiance but many I have looked at are very expensive. Minard Castle is pricey at 90 pounds a night(could do it) but if I can have a similar stay at the Carbisdale Castle Hostel that would be great. Any ideas to compliment this excursion ei. other B & B's and sites...we will hopefully have a rental car(suggestions?)
With appreciation, Karie and Leah

There IS a castle in Scotland, near Inverness, I think, that is being used as a youth hostel. Check out the Scotland youth hostel association

they should have something listed on it...
I just looked at the Carbisdale Castle site, its £28 per adult right now

But it is a youth Hostel - not like staying in a "Castle" at all. The outside and some of the main rooms are nice - but the accomodations are typical Hostel - several people sharing and the bath down the hall.
£28 pp for that, or £45pp at Minard? I'd choose Minard, hands down. It is very elegant for the price.
