Never stayed there, but Hotel Henri IV, at the top of Ile de la Cite is famous as a budget hotel de charme: 25 Place Dauphine, Paris, 75001; Tel.=01-43-54-44-53. I understand that the Bastille and the Conciergerie (both now closed to guests) had more creature comforts, and charged more for them.

Thanks Search was not working this is a start. I am in Hotel Honoure at the moment for $165. I was thinking of canceling trip altogether as I was just in Hawaii in August and I really don't have this kind of income. YEAH you are helping me to keep this trip plan.

Check out Hotel Louvre St Romain, prices for a double start at FF650 ($105 USD). http://www.pariserve.com/louvre-st-romain/english.htm

I stayed in this hotel in 1999. It's half a block in from Rue Rivoli (if you are in a room facing the street and lean out the window, you can see the Tulieres). It's also about 2-4 blocks from the Louvre. There are a couple of Metro stations in the area as well.

Our rooms was a decent size with a nice big bathroom. The staff was very friendly and spoke English pretty well. Plenty of places to eat in the area and lots of shopping. Enjoy your trip!

I suggested some in your other post: Hotel au Relais du Louvre and Hotel de la Place du Louvre (see www.pariserve.com or www.france-hotel-guide.com)

Sarah, Last year I stayed at Hotel LeLoiret in the 1st. Very close to a metro stop and right next to the Louvre. It is a three star hotel and I think I stayed in a single for around $70 per night.

Hello. Please pardon my jumping in here, but your budget sounds like mine. I remember a two-star hotel on Rue St. Roch called something like "Londres et Stockholm". It was fine (but not fancy, obviously) for our purposes many years ago, but I don't know if it exists anymore. It was just a block or two away from the Seine. We loved the location. I'm wondering if anyone has seen it, or stayed there recently?

You might want to consider the Hotel Britannique on Ave. Victoria in the 1st. I stayed there several years ago and liked it. Its a three star and should be in your price range. The rooms tend to be small but are beautifully decorated with modern bathrooms. The rooms facing the front have small balconies.
