I have been looking at different website to book a JFK to LHR flight. The cheapest I can find is about $350 plus taxes. Is this a good price? I have seen airfares to London as low as $270, I am out of luck, or outdated? Any tips would be appreciated. I prefer to fly American Airlines and I will be travelling in March 2006.

Haven't seen anything that low since last winter - when fuel was much less. Did you see the $270 recently - or is it a memory of a different world?

The $270 airfare I have seen was last year for travel in Jan, Feb or March . The loswest price I have seen this year is $248 for travel in Jan only, obviously, this is not suitable for me. For those of you who are interested the $248 special is wiht United.

So, should i forget about dreaming of a cheaper price? Is $350 plus taxes good for a roundtrip Jfk-Lhr?

I guess you're asking "is this the lowest conceivable price?" - - none of us here knows... several times a year, stories always seem to occur of a price "mistake" that could get you a fare of $99, or $44 or who knows how low? Will you find one that you can use? Seems improbable.

The longer you wait, the greater the probability that you could find nothing but higher fares. Try looking for fares for next week - - _any_ NYC airport to _any_ LON airport - - there are a hodgepodge of airlines offering fares from $456 to $584. They will probably sell some seats at this price - - just how many people do you want to get in front of you, to buy seats for $100 to $200 less... during a period when more people traditionally travel?

I think you answered your own question in the original posting...

Is it a good price? Is $1.29 a good price for a bottle of water? When "what people will pay" is... what people will pay...

...then I think that's what you're likely going to pay.

I think $350 is a very good fare for a flight from New York to London this March. I've been watching fares for that route and time frame for a while now, and the lowest I've seen was $377. Unfortunately, I didn't jump on it in time (because I didn't have my dates nailed down yet), so earlier this week I ended up booking flights on Virgin for $434. A day or two later, those same flights were priced at $480.
