charming-spain.hotels.com

I found the best rate for a hotel in Spain in this site. Never heard of it before, has anyone used it ?
They request the credit card as a guarantee by payment they say is directly at hotel. Cancelation is 48 hs. Sounds ok, however I have never used , but the ones I know are much more. Tks.

I used it this past fall and had no issues at all. Hotels had my reservations and the rate I was quoted. Was very convenient to book on-line at home and arrive in spain and not worry about finding a place to stay.

I'd be very, very careful with Charming Hotels. We had a problem with them. My sister, who made our reservations, looked at their site. One hotel listed with them, La Casa del Maestro, was too expensive for us, so we did not book there. Instead we booked direct with La Casa del Mercaderes; however, I later got a charge on my credit card ($187) for del Maestro.

When we investigated and told them we had not booked with them, they said they had sent a confirmation by email. It turned out that they had made a mistake on my email address, so I never received it. Obviously, I would have notified them that we had not booked there if I had received it. They refused to withdraw the charge, although the problem was clearly their mistake.

Though it wasn't Charming Hotels but another website, I think I should share this: we booked at a hostal in Barcelona four years ago. When I was reviewing our accommodation I noticed they hadn't sent a confirmation, so I emailed asking for confirmation. They replied saying they were full on that date. I emailed back saying we'd booked about six weeks earlier, but heard nothing. We then found a hotel for a higher rate. Some months later we were charged on our credit card for a "no show". When I tried to explain that there had been a communication breakdown they wouldn't "listen", and we eventaully gave up. Unfortuntately our Spanish-speaking daughter wasn't here to sort things out. A salutory lesson for us, but it was the only hitch we had in 7 weeks of accommodation booked over the internet!
