If you want to stay in the thick of things, we are staying are last night in Provence before crossing the country, at the beautiful L'Hotel Les Ateliers de L'image. The doubles start at 150€ There's a maze as well as swimming pool. The cuisene is Japaneese/French.

We've stayed at the Chateau de Alpilles twice. It's about a km outside the village center- perfect for a walk into town. We really enjoy the ambiance of the hotel. There's also a large pool area that's never crowded. The grounds are rather spread out for lounging near the pool.

Here are others with pool:
Hostellerie de Vallon de Valrugues,
Le Castelat des Alpilles.
Hotel Gounod,
Mas Des carassins,
Le Mas Des Figues,
Mas de Cornud
Hotel Villa Glanum.
You'll have to google to see what they are like, and how near to intown.

Thank you for the help. We decided on Hotel Gounod. The website looks great but i am a little worried that I could not find any reviews of it anywhere! It is in town.

The Château des Alpilles is a beautiful 4* property, with prices to match. The Domaine de Valmouriane is a 3*, priced accordingly. We stayed there a few years back and liked it a lot. The pool area is gorgeous, and there are wooded grounds to walk in (and swing in, too), and the locked parking lot is a good thing to have. Some of the ground-floor rooms have their own little patios; our room was very spacious and cool.

To Kelbo:

I just took a tour of the rooms at the Gounod (Ville Verte)yesterday afternoon. I loved how they've refurbished the rooms, and the bathrooms are great too. I am adding this hotel to my "recommended" list of hotels for the area. The only downside for some may be that there is no elevator and no pool. The rooms all have A/C and flat screen telvisions. And the location is great....
