Charles De Gaulle Airport to Eiffel Tower
Hello Everybody,
I have 2 questions about Pairs and need some suggestions.
I will arrive the Charles De Gaulle Airport in the morning about 6:00 and will transit to Geneve at 13:00 on the same day.
1. Can I have enough time to go to the Eiffel Tower ?
2. How can I go the Eiffel Tower from the Airport and How much of the Fares?
Thanks for your ideas.
Gavin

two weeks ago, when I left CDG ( on the bus) the traffic to
Paris was huge! Took an hour and 20 minutes to get into the center. Sunday and holidays might be a different story.
Even with hardly any traffic, the taxi would be about 55 euros and about 25-30 minutes.
M-P gave you a good suggestion. Study the maps ahead of time .
just make sure you have enough time getting back ( security etc...)

Ideally, for my first time view of the Eiffel tower I would want to go to the Trocadero metro stop on the Right Bank. Fabulous views.
But would require a bit more manoeuvering (change from RER to Metro, transfers between Metro,etc..) Not much more expensive though.

pchero,
When I have visited it has been as part of a stay in Paris.
Part of the answer will be where are you coming from, going to, is baggage checked all th eway through, expected time to go throguh customs, day of week,etc..
To see Eiffel from Trocadero, while standing at the RER station till I get back to RER station...I would say 3 hrs ( 1 hr there, 1 hr looking, 1 hr back)

Arriving at 0600 would get you to the RER station by about 0700 (presuming no luggage to claim and recheck.) If you do not have a credit card with a smart chip you cannot not use the kiosk and would need to buy your RER ticket at the counter. That could take up to 30 minutes. You should be able to get your ticket, get on an RER B train bound for Paris by 0800, maybe a bit earlier. Change at RER station St. Michel to RER C and get off at Champs de Mars - Tour Eiffel. When you exit, walk to your left (with your back to the river) for about 5 minutes and you will come to the ET. The best view of ET is actually from Trocadero, across the river.
To return to CDG, do the same trip in reverse. Allow about an hour for the trip each way. You would need to be on an RER train bound for CDG by 1030 or 1100 at the latest, allowing not much more than an hour at the ET.
All this said, do you really think this is something that you will be able to do and enjoy after an overnight flight? If so, good luck and let us know how it works out.

no, the RER line C is on the side of the river with the tower, and the Trocadero is across the river. You'd have to walk across a big bridge to get there. YOu could do it, it's not that far. Of course you can take the metro over there, but it's a little more complicated than the RER directions given.
Actually, you could transfer to the metro to get over to Trocadero stop at the Champ de Mars-Tour Eiffel RER stop, instead of getting out. Just transfer to line six in the direction of Etoile and get out at Trocadero (two stops away).
The automatic ticket machines have lots of options and you buy the ticket for where you are going.

pchero: The OP had 7 hours-- and it would have been a little bit tight.
You only have 5 hours. Immigration and getting to near the Eiffel Tower will easily take 2 hours -- probably more. You have to be back at CDG early for security. W/ just 5 hours on the ground you would be very lucky to get to the Trocadero or E tower and back to the airport in time.

There is only one return ticket to buy at CDG. The RER Line B in the only train into the city. At St Michel switch lines to RER Line C.
If you want to go to Trocadero, will need to take metro. Based on info at www.ratp.com, they recommend:
RER Line B to Gare du Nord
RER line E from Gare du Nord to Haussman
Metro Line 9 to Trocadero.
Your RER ticket, I beleive will be enough to get you there. Coming back you would need Metro ticket for first hop.
