FRA should be easy enough to make the connections, with time enough for shopping or lunch in the terminal. Make sure you give yourself a little extra time to get to your gate. I have had to clear two security points on my two trip thru FRA in the past year, so it takes a bit of extra time. But you have plenty of it.

With almost 2 hours I would say that is plenty of time. Since both flights are on Lufthansa, yes they should be responsible for getting you on another flight. On a recent trip our flight Florence to Frankfurt was late leaving so we missed our flight from Frankfurt to Portland, and our connecting flight to Southern Oregon. They only have one flight a day (Frankfurt-Portland), so we couldn't get out until the next day. Personally, we found the agents at Lufthansa to be VERY helpful and VERY friendly, there were 4 of us, and they got us all squared away quickly. They put us up in a nice hotel for the night, incl. dinner and breakfast. All in all, wasn't such a bad experience.

Connections in Frankfurt are pretty easy. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time for connections because no matter where you arrive from, you have to clear security again for flights to the USA. 2 hrs is plenty of time.

Shopping is good too!
