Chamonix-Mont-Blanc b&b

My husband and I plan to be in Chamonix for two nights in late May. If you were me, which of these chalet b&bs would you choose, and why?

Maison Jaune: www.maison-jaune.com

Chalet La Sache: www.antjamski.com

Thank you.

Just refreshing to see if someone new is on who might be able to help.

Thanks!

Are you sure they are open in late May, and available for 2 nights? The first one shows prices per week only, for the ski season which runs thru May 11, 2008. And the second one shows a gap between the end of ski season (weekly only) and the start of summer season in June.

Both offer nightly stays. La Sache won't know until a month or so if they'll be open, so I can't book until then.

Assuming both are open, which would you choose?

Thanks,
Laura

I don't remember these types of accomodations private chalet/B&B in Chamonix menioned on this forum. Maybe Fodorites have no experience with these (including me)?

Both are outside Chamonix city. If you have a car, that won't be a problem.
Maison Jaune is in Les Houches a few kilometers before Chamonix if you are coming from Geneva side. This is where the 1st ever Winter Olympic Games were held in 1924. La Sache is a bit closer to Chamonix. There is Gaillant lake and a rockclimbing trainning site nearby.

April/May can be a low season for this area and many places may be closed. I can see availability calendar for Maison Jaune only till May 11th. They may be closed for a month or so afterwords. For La Sache, I see availability till mid April and from June. They may be closed inbetween. Perhaps you better check about their closing dates first.

Hi Laura,

We are the owners and operators of Maison Jaune. Many thanks for considering Maison Jaune for your stay next year in May..

Unfortunately, whilst normally we are open pretty much all year round, we shall in fact be closed for the whole of May 2008. Sorry if this causes disappointment.

We can however recommend Chalet La Sache as another great place to stay.

You might also find other accommodation in the Chamonix valley on www.ski-chalets.biz

kind regards
Helen and Leighton.

Thanks for the response. I'll keep my fingers crossed that La Sache is open.

Hi all. I have finally found a few places that are available for our nights. Please let me know your thoughts on the following chalets in the Chamonix valley.

It will be my husband (34) and me (28) for a short stay (2-3 days) at the end of May.

Here are my options. All prices are within our budget. All offer a double room and breakfast.

Chalet Bergerie in Les Houches
http://www.chaletbergerie.com/

Chalet Blanche in Chamonix http://www.demipiste.com/

Chalet Beaver in Chamonix http://www.arcticbeaver.com/pages/acc_beaver.htm

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thank you,
Laura
