Hello all! My husband and I will be touring the UK for the first time from Mar 30-Apr 12 and would like to challenge you to help us find accommodations for less than 40# per room per night! I know, I know, the UK is a notoriously expensive place, but I'm hoping that you might know of some good finds that we can check into.<BR><BR>We are in our late 20's, on a pretty tight budget, and aren't completely opposed to staying in hostels (although we aren't interested in an "all-night-party" place). We'd prefer B&Bs or a small hotel...here's where we're hoping to stay during our trip:<BR><BR>Salisbury - 3 nights<BR>Stratford - 2 nights<BR>York - 2 nights<BR>Edinburgh - 3 nights<BR>London - 3 nights<BR><BR>Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Last time I heard, hostels in London were around $30.00 with bath down the hall. You might want to research this a lot! Good luck,hope it works out.

you can find tons of B&Bs for under 40 pounds in London.<BR><BR>one where I have stayed a few times is Iolanthe - 35 pounds a double last I checked. it's near Hampstead Heath. You are going in the off season so accomodations will be easy to find. One thing I noticed is that all of your stops are in cities, and expensive ones at that. Especially Edinburgh and London. To keep to your budget in those two you may have to stay in hostels or university lodging halls (which rent to tourists). <BR><BR>You will usually find much cheaper rooms in B&Bs and farmhouses in the country instead of the city centers. There is no need to book ahead except for London and probably Edinburgh. Every town has a Tourist Information centre (TIC) where they will find you rooms in your price range. <BR><BR>I usually find great rooms - ensuite even - from 30 - 45 GBP double. But in London and Edinburgh you'll have to lower your sights some.

Check out smoothhound.co.uk, I just looked at what was available in Salisbury, the city I know best as I live fairly close to it, and there were quite a few B&B's around &pound;40 per room per night.Salisbury is not a big city so even if you stayed on the outskirts it would not be too far from the cathederal etc.

I work for the University, so haven't actually stayed in it, but from my student days, I remember it not being too bad. There's quite a selection, so check out the location of each property before you make a decision. When I looked, a double en-suite was coming in at &pound;32.50 per night per room.<BR><BR>Another option is to look at http://www.laterooms.co.uk (throughout the UK), but you would have to be willing to book with shorter notice with them.<BR><BR>Hope that helps some,<BR>Jenny
