Central Europe Advice Needed
trip to Prague, Budapest and Vienna.
Early November to try for slightly warmer weather, or Early Dec. with Christmas markets?
From Chicago, are $800 flights average this time of year? We found a tour package co. that
just takes care of air/xfers/hotel and it seems incredibly reasonable if airfares usual as high as I'm finding.
I booked our whole trip around Italy myself but am a bit attracted to having someone else deal with the large details and i can just plan my days. Your thoughts? Hubby and I aren't too picky where we stay: clean, safe etc. We're out exploring mostly!

To where? RT or open-jaw. Dates?
www.mobissimo.com has Chicago/Prague RT on Nov 1-11 for $600 total.

Ira, Thanks for the site, I have never used that one before and you are so right. Hmmm. excellent!
Now, second part of question, would you
go early Nov or late Nov/Early Dec to hit the Christmas markets? are they worth it? Thanks so much!

We did this in early November 2003. We used a package from Paul Laifer tours. Transportation between cities, hotels, and a half day tour of each city was included. The rest of the time we were on our own.We extended the time taking 4 days in each city.
The weather in Prague was cool, but pleasant. We even ate lunch outside one day with those outdoor heaters. Vienna was very rainy and overcast when we were there, which had some impact on our impression of the city. We liked Vienna the least of the three. Budapest was great weather. One day we look a long walk from the Gellert baths to the Fisherman's Bastion and we had to remove our jackets, were in shirt sleeves most of the way.
Loved Prague and Budapest and liked Vienna but had to confine mostly ourselves to indoor activities, such as museums. We attended an opera in all 3 cities.

Hi Eroz,
As living in Hungary, I would definately suggest December. The city looks so different. There can be some difference in the weather, however, this year December was quite nice as well.
Both Vienna and Budapest they have big really intresting Chistmas fairs and would not miss that.
On the other hand, November is a bit more hassle free as people are not running around for the gifts...
I would pick December.
