Ceiling tours ORNC Greenwich
If anyone is interested -- the ceiling tours of the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich finish up for good Sept. 30.

Based on Jamikins recommendations I did the tour last December and it was really interesting. It is a unique opportunity to see the artwork up (very) close and learn about the conservation.

And of course Naval Colleges are great to visit anytime but especially for this - plus Greenwich is such a great day out from central London. Neat old town with famed antique markets - Royal Observatory and Home of Time - can straddle hemispheres and Cutty Sark - neat pubs along Thames.

Yes really - many folks here are not perhaps familiar with Greenwich and its lures and may not come just to see 'high' art - when planning their London time. Another feature of Greenwich - one of my favorite day trips when I went to London is to walk under the Thames by the world's first or one of first underwater pedestrian tunnels - to the weirdly named Isle of Dogs and then taking the unique Docklands Light Rail (DLR-Oyster Cards valid) on elevated tracks high above the rather amazing London Docklands and seeing all the neat modern architecture and old waterways from high up - so for those who are looking for a day out in London (Greenwich is a borough of London) do consider Greenwich and during dates of janis' post about the Naval College ceilings even more special. Google London Docklands and DLR and Greenwich Foot Tunnel to see what a great addition to Greenwich making a neat day out of London in London itself. DLR takes you to two Tube stations for easy travel back to central London.
