Catalonia ,Spain..Never been but intrigued..need help

Thinking perhaps combining 3 days in Barcelonia with a 7 day stay in possibly Cadaques, Roses, or Lloret De Mar. Will not have a car but would like to use one of these towns as base for day trips. Will be solo so perhaps too long in one spot? Like idea of combining beach w/ touring. Planning on end May or June & look forward to ocean swimming & sunshine. Other suggestions for base? Thanks

There is a hotel just outside of Lloret de Mar called the Santa Marta. It has a private beach. We thought it was wonderful but haven't been there for three years.
We had a car and I don't know how easily it is to explore the area using public transportation.

Are you sure you don't want to rent a car? Three days in Barcelona is good and then you can drive up the coast toward France there are many nice beach resort towns, go to Girona which has some great Roman arquitecture, Montserrat, the Pyranees, there is lots to do in that area and having a car can give you lots of freedom.

Can I also encourage you to rent a car Driving out of and into Barcelona from/to the airport is a challenge, but once out in the countryside the driving is really easy and the roads are excellent.

I was in Catalonia about 2 years ago for a few days, stayed the paradors of Cordona and Auigablava (really beautiful) and toured the pyrenees and Girona.

I prepared a trip report I can send you if you send me a note to [email protected].

regards Ger
