My family will be in Copenhagen the 1st of April. My daughter wants to see a castle. Are there any there?

I recall that there are two palaces downtown and two that are a short train ride away. Check the destinations part of this site for more information. I have no personal experience yet. We are in the planning stage for a trip for June.

Oops, clicked the wrong button:

In Copenhagen, the castle to visit is Rosenborg Slot, which is filled with historical exhibits and houses the Danish Crown Jewels. You can see the changing of the guard at Amalienborg Palace, and also visit Christiansborg, which has all the formal rooms of state.

There are several great castles outside Copenhagen, which you can reach by a short train ride. Kronborg in Helsingor (Elsinore) is the legendary Hamlet's castle. Fredericksborg in Hillerod is a grand palace which also houses the Museum of National History.

You will not have a problem finding MANY castles in Denmark! They are everywhere. My absolute favorite castle in Denmark is Fredricksborg in Hillerod, a short train ride outside of the city. It is just beautiful with a huge outdoor area that is just breathtaking.

Also in April you must check out Rosenborg and the garden there. It will be filled with beautiful tulips that time of the year.

Have a wonderful time. Denmark is very special!
