I recall that there are two palaces downtown and two that are a short train ride away. Check the destinations part of this site for more information. I have no personal experience yet. We are in the planning stage for a trip for June.

You will not have a problem finding MANY castles in Denmark! They are everywhere. My absolute favorite castle in Denmark is Fredricksborg in Hillerod, a short train ride outside of the city. It is just beautiful with a huge outdoor area that is just breathtaking.
Also in April you must check out Rosenborg and the garden there. It will be filled with beautiful tulips that time of the year.
Have a wonderful time. Denmark is very special!
