carry on baggage regs

We have decided to use carry on only for trip to London. I have researched regulations for leaving United States - US Airways but want to be sure of Heathrow too.

Will Heathrow only allow ONE - or do I go by US Airways??? will i have to fit my purse INSIDE my carry on when we leave Heathrow??

thanks in advance!!

No - for Heathrow you are allowed 1 carry-on and one personal item.

But do have a look at the size limits for the carry-on. In europe they are often a couple of inches smaller than in the US - and I have seen people have to gate check their carry-on (a normal size for the US).

You will have to put your purse in your carry-on at LHR to get through security unless they've changed things. The airline will let you bring both on, but it's a matter of getting both pieces through security first. And in my experience, they're pretty strict about this for whatever reason. As long as you save yourself just enough room to smash it in your bag, you can remove it on the other side once you pass through security. I'm a carry-on traveler too and I think the advantages outweigh that one negative at LHR. Good luck!

They've changed things. You can now take more than one item through security (but there are still restrictions on liquids). Your airline also has its own rules.

It also depends on the airline - some still only allow one. So it's the lower of the airport's and the airlines max.
