Car rental in Fuessen, Germany?

I'm trying to find out if we can pick up a car rental in Fuessen on Sunday, April 1, 2007.

We're arriving in Zurich and would like to train to Fuessen and pick up our car there. I've looked at several websites, and so far, no one has a car pickup in Fuessen.

Can someone help with this? Thanks!

There is a Hertz in Schwangau, or better yet, get off in Lindau and try either Avis or Sixt; still might be better than taking the train almost all the way to Munich and a more scenic ride.

Have you considered the bus to Munich?

Yeah, but now we're considering making our base Garmisch instead of Fussen. We would rent a car there, visit Fussen, the castles, and things around Garmisch.

Good or bad idea?

Our plan changes daily at this point.

We use Garmisch-Partenkirchen as our base and day trip from there. From our maps you can see a couple routes we have done. We drive( or you can take a bus) to Wolfratshausen and take the S-Bahn to Munich. You can get a ticket for up to 5 traveling together.

Unless you plan something special in or on the way to Wolfratshausen, there is no reason to take this detour. There are frequent and direct trains from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Munich. Bavaria-Ticket is valid on almost all of them.
