car rental in avignon - can you help?
I have been browsing the web for car rentals in Avignon for Aug. I have found a decent price (I think) at www.carhire4less.co.uk; about $400US for 13 days. The cars listed are either a Citroen C or Citroen Xsara. The car supplier is Alamo. Has anyone had any experience with either of these cars or these companies? Or does anyone have any other suggestions? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Check out www.autoeurope.com for a price comparison. The price you quote seems inexpensive, though, compared to prices I've paid for pickups at the Avignon station in recent years. I've never been routed through Alamo, though, so I don't know. Make sure your car has enough trunk space for your luggage and that all insurance is covered by your credit card or you pay for it as an extra.

Gregory,
I rent from Hertz at the new TGV station. (There are two stations in Avignon).
Some tips for what they are worth:
-If you want an automatic you must specify it. And they often give a big car at "no increase in price" but size is important re narrow roads, parking.
-Rate seems good.
Good luck.

the Xsara is fine, bigger than a Civic but smaller than an Accord.
400 for 2 weeks is good.
you'll likely pickup at the TGV station, there are a bunch of companies in a little trailer right outside the station.
