car rental between Spain and Portugal

Does anyone have info about renting in Spain and then dropping a car in Portugal. Is it okay to take a car between the 2 countries and is there a large fee? Or is there a reasonable flight from Sevilla or Tangier to Lisbon??

There is most likely a large fee for a cross-border drop-off unless you are lucky enough to get a car that needs to be returned to your country of destination. Call Autoeurope and ask them about it. They provide reliable information.

Check this site for flights: http://www.flylc.com/directall-en.asp

When we looked into renting a car in Portugal and dropping it off in Spain six weeks later there was a huge drop off fee. Instead,we took a taxi across the border, Porto to Vigo, and picked up another rental car saving us a lot of money. Our hotel in Porto called around and found us a good flat rate for the taxi, less than half of what we'd been quoted from the US. We always book with AutoEurope too.

We rented a car in Lisbon and dropped in madrid 3 weeks later - from Hertz - and there was no fee - but we ended up returning a Spanish car to Spain. Otherwise I thin it was about $200 drop off charge. I would think this is more common than the other way around if you have a unidrectional trip.

We were quoted about 5 times that of nytraveler for a drop off ...maybe it had to do the cities we will dealing with, Porto and Vigo.

The only thing I can add is that it is not a good use of money unless you have plenty to burn.

HappyT, there are frequent trains and buses between those 2 cities that you could also use.
