Car pick up in Florence

Hi Everyone: I need some help, please! I am going with a group of 6 females to Tuscany. We will be flying into Florence and driving to Arrezeo the first day. The car pick up (autoEurope) with Avis was about $300.00 cheaper for us to pick up downtown. After reading on this board, I read how hard it is to drive in Florence. Should I change the pick up to Florence at the airport? We can return there without any issues. Please advise. Thank you! Kathy

I didn't have any problem driving in Florence. For $300, you could have someone tow you out of town and still save a bundle.

You shouldn't have any problem at all. Just get a good navigator.

Hi K,

You can get driving directions out of town from www.mappy.com and www.viamichelin.com.

You could also hire a taxi to lead you out of town.

Hi Kraines.

We picked up our car at this Avis location without any difficulty. Just head over one of the bridges to get on the other side of the Arno and you should be able to pick up the road to Arezzo.

We were going to Chianti and used the Micheline driving directions without any problem.

Good luck

Not hard at all just getting out of town. Do print the detail from viamichelin.com for backup.

Hi
for on-line driving instructions, you'll need the correct spelling, it's
Arezzo

Also, I was not as worried about driving out of town as I was about driving back to the airport. This way, I would be the only one that would have to go by taxi!
