car hire in Greece

We are going to the Greek mainland next May and are thinking about hiring a car. There seems to be so many sites around that I don't want to miss so I would like to plan my own itinery rather than relying on tours. Is driving there quite easy- and, by the way, we WILL take an excursion into Athens!!!

I note that you started another thread to explain the following:

================================ =======

Fodors problems?

Author: joice ([email protected])
Date: 11/24/2001, 03:34 pm

Message: I have 2 identical posts now and the second one has a time on it much later than the first one. Why has this happened? I have also noted that several people on the carribean forum have had the same problem.

So please, I did not get impatient with no-one replying to my post and sent it again!!!!Although I wouldn't mind some advice!!!!!!!

============================= ==========

There is nothing specifically wrong with doing that - - though now the forum has three threads when one was all you really wanted to post.

I doubt that any one will be able to "diagnose" the reason your message got posted twice - - and especially not on this holiday weekend.

And likewise, I can't actually answer your question.

But by pushing THIS post to the top, hopefully, the other two posts will rapidly drop towards the bottom by virtue of no one else posting to reply to them.

Best wishes,

Rex
Rex
re someone liking to hear themselves does the expression involving the words pot, kettle and black ring any bells?? I see you are your usual self important, obnoxious self.
to everyone else- I was asking a serious question. Don't let my reply to Rex the ******** put you off answering. I can assure you that I am usually the most mild mannered of people but he just got right up my nose!!

Joice, While in Athens and the islands a friend and I bartered with a cab driver and hired him for the day to take us to some sites. I have also done this in Mexico. I suggest speaking to the concierge at your hotel to get an idea of how much it should cost and then go on the hunt for a great cabbie!!

Let me apoligize - - I was not attacking you, nor accusing you of wanting to see your name on the forum. Whether intentional or not, when a question gets posted twice, inevitably EACH copy gets some answers - - and it is better if one gets pushed to the top - - and hopefully gets all the answers, while the "other one" gracefully dies to the bottom, unanswered.

And even this reply accomplishes that goal, to a certain extent.
to Rex
I'll take the opportunity to apologise as well.someone once told me "never send an e-mail in anger" and now I understand why!!! I am well known for being mild mannered so finding my temper has come as quite a surprise to me! Ah well, no one is perfect!!
