Car Boot Sales in London

I'll be London from Oct. 10th-20th and would like to take in a Car Boot Sale. Does anyone have information on locations and times of these sales in the greater London area? I always make my way around the various street markets when visiting London but thought this might be a new experience. Thanks.

There are millions of these things - usually on sundays. Where are you staying?

Look in the local paper; it's where they all advertise.

It might be a bit late in the season though.

I'll be staying at the Sumner Hotel In the Marble Arch area - but I'm certainly willing to go anywhere in and around London. I'm assuming they're much like our Flea Markets here in the US.
Thanks for the reply.

I've never seen car boot ads in the Evening Standard. They're typically advertised in very local papers - and since there aren't really any round Marble Arch, you'd need to decide which of the dozens of local papers round London you wsant to look at.

You've also got the problem of access. Most car boots are designed for people to drive to: there are loads to the side of arterial roads, but rarely easy to get to by public transport.

You might try searching Remote Goat (www.remotegoat.co.uk)

I've been several times to the car boot sale in Brighton which is immediately adjacent to the train station. It's every Sunday starting early & is only about an hour train ride (more or less.) Not sure if it's on all year or not but it's vast with a lot of interesting things. Or check this site:

Thank you flanneruk and Carrybean. Both of these websites are extremely helpful. If I'm successful in attending some of these sales during my stay in London I'll report it here when I return. I'm an avid watcher of all the BBC-America tv auction and antique shows. With the dollar being unfavorable I thought I might find a treasure at car boot sale prices. But if not - I'll just enjoy the experience of taking in some local culture in new areas around London.
