Capri in mid January
If anyone has been in January..What was the
weather like? Cold and Windy? Do the ferries run all year? Is Naples the best place to get a ferry? What about Positano or Sorrento? Thanks

We visited Capri in March. The weather was delightful although unpredictable. We departed by ferry from Sorrento. The off season on Capri leaves much to be desired. Many shops and hotels are closed, the funicular was under repair, and the small, charming boats are beached. However we enjoyed walking the towns, browsing the shops that were open, and eating a delicious lunch. We prefer to travel in the off season so that is the compromise we are willing to accept.

All of them will be cold, possibly rainy and pretty dead. I hate bearing bad news like that, but better to know ahead of time.
January is a great time to visit the cities, because they are the least crowded they can be all year long. Most beach areas and the countryside are approximately 75% closed up for the season.
