We are going to Turkey after a crusie in October 2009 for 7 nights. We start in Istanbul and plan to also visit Cappodocia. At this point I am considering 3 days in Istanbul and three 1/2 in Cappodocia with another 1/2 day in Istanbul lbefore flying home. Does anyone have comments? Is that too much time in Cappodocia? We do not like to run from place to place, we enjoy a slower pace than most tours.
Also I see there is a flight to Nevsehir which is less expensive than to Kayseri. Anyone familiar with this flight? Thanks.

Stayed at the Kelebek in Goreme for four nights (10/28 to 10/31). It was a great place and the price was quite reasonable. They have different styles of rooms, which can be viewed at their website. IMO three to four days is about right. Nevsehir is closer and the cost for a shuttle (20-30 minutes or so) to Goreme was 15 Turkish Lira per person (about $10).

Argeus Tours in Urgup ([email protected]) set up the airfare (about 99 TL per person - $65+/-) and the shuttle.

In my opinion 3 1/2 days in Cappodocia is too much. I was there for two days and it was plenty.

There is one flight a day from Istanbul to Nevsehir. It's just 60km from Nevsehir to Urgup in the heart of Cappadocia. Keyseri has more flights, but is 70KM from Urgup. However both are conveniently served by shuttle service operated by Argeus, a local travel company that also books cave hotels, mountain biking and guided tours in the area, so it makes little difference which airport you fly into

We were in Cappodocia for 2 1/2 days
with a rental car. We saw most of the sights at a comfortable pace but I was wishing I had one more day.

There are daily flight to both Kayseri and Nevsehir. Nevsehir has one flight in the morning and return midday back to Istanbul.

More flight options to Kayseri for sure. Travel time to say Urgup from Nevsehir airport is 45 min and from Kayseri is about an hour.

3,5 days is good for Cappadocia you will enjoy better.
