Canyoning, rafting in Switzerland

Has anyone done this? I was looking into Interlaken and came across these activities. Just looking for any personal experiences and advice. Thank you for your time.

Just be very careful. Some young people were killed canyoning outside of Interlaken a few years ago--caught in a flash flood that surprised everyone.

My husband looked at the pictures of canyoning, and said it was too dangerous. I guess we will look into rafting, we have done that in WV.

For anyones curiousity: http://www.outdoor-interlaken.ch/en/summer/canyoning/

Have a great weekend!

I'm going in a few weeks so I have looked into this somewhat. There appear to be several companies throughout the Oberland that offer river raft tours, some 1/2 day and some all day. There are also tours with various difficulty levels. Here's one company:

We did a rafting trip with Alpinraft in Interlaken last summer a half day trip, and had a great time. They provided all the gear, and gave a safety lesson first. We would go again.

I have done the canyoning in Interlaken. Yes, I think it is dangerous. We walked on slippery rocks. Stood on top of little cliffs with rocks at the bottom. We climbed wet little cliffs with no safety rope. Someone almost slide into a pile of rocks. Another hit his head while sliding down a rope. But most importantly is poorly given safety instructions. One will need better than average balance and climbing skills. Most of us were in our twenties. Handgliding was fun, but lasts only 15 minutes.
