Cannes to Monaco
Stopping at the port in Cannes and would like to get to Monaco (take a taxi?), wander around for a few hours in Monaco and the return to the ship in Cannes. Any suggestions about transport? Thanks.

taxis if on a mega budget - it's fairly far - trains go frequently between the two.
Avoid the stopping trains that stop everywhere as you don't have much time and hop the express trains that only stop a few times
schedules: www.voyages-sncf.com
Note if taking TGV and Corail TEOZ trains reservations are required - get them when you get your ticket.
Train could be much faster than taxi as well due to oft horrendous Riviera traffic.
There are plenty of places near Cannes (Grasse, St Paul-de-Vence, Antibes, etc. that most folks enjoy way better than dullish Monaco, whose uniqueness seems in being that it's a Principality or - kind of another country.
But IMO there's not much there when you get there.
