Cancellation policy: A POSITIVE experience

I thought you would be interested in a recent positive experience I had regarding hotel cancellation policy.

I booked the Palazzo Bocci in Spello for two nights (http://www.palazzobocci.com/en/). Earlier this week, it looked as if my trip to Europe might be cancelled and I fully expected that the hotel would charge me for at least one night, if not both. The website clearly states: CANCELLATION POLICY: 100% 7 days before arrivals.

I sent a note to the hotel and explained the situation, asking how much they would charge me if I cancelled. I received a very nice note assuring me that they would not charge me anything at all and would still hold the room until Monday in case my situation changed. If not, they looked forward to seeing me at some time in the future.

Thankfully, the situation did change and I was able to confirm the booking with the hotel this morning.

I had checked the cancellation policy before I booked and accepted it. The hotel had no obligation, but were kind enough to help me out. This experience gives me a really good feeling about the hotel before I even arrive!

Regards Ger

Hi Ger,

That is fantastic. First, I am glad that you did not have to cancel your trip and in the end were able to book. Also, isn't it nice when any establishment is so considerate and goes above and beyond?!?

What excellent customer service indeed, good for Palazzo Bocci, may they get great business because of it!

Have a wonderful trip, and again glad all worked out for you!

Best wishes, T.

We should have been so lucky with the Hotel Villa Maria in Sorrento! Cancelled 5 days before instead of 7 and they charged us every penny, including the upgrade for a view. Went to see it the following year and didn't like it anyway.

Ger, it is always so great to hear about a business that has a "heart". So often we only hear complaints so it is good to read a positive report.

And I too am so glad that you can make your trip! And don't forgot to ship Umbria, I am really excited about that, LOL! Take good care, a safe and happy journey to you.

Yes, I was delighted and think the went "above & beyond". I was more than prepared to take a loss, so it was such a pleasant surprise to get their response.

I am also thankful that I did NOT have to cancel. I am sitting in the airport lounge, waiting for my flight, my B/C upgrade confirmed. Ger is a happy bunny

Regards Ger
