can you re-apply?

I sent in for a renewal and of course haven't gotten it back yet. However, what is the policy on re-applying and expediting?

I assume you are talking about getting your passport. Call the number on the web page for the State Department and ask the status. If they tell you it won't be coming for a while, you can ask them to expedite and pay the fees over the phone.

If you re-apply, you will start the whole process over again and cause a lot more confusion. Just follow up on the application you already sent.

Thank you. However, I did. I leave in two weeks and all they said was they will put a request in. I have read that people have paid to have it expedited over the phone. How come she would not let me do this? I will pay any amount of money at this point. I leave in 15 days. Nothing will compare to what I would be losing.

I cannot imagine why they didn't suggest that. Please call again and insist that you want to expidite. Good luck and please keep us posted.

I have heard that even the expedited passports are taking about 4 weeks. You can call them daily to see how it is going. Also, if you have not specified a date of travel, give yourself a couple days cushion. When you call to check try pushing 9,3,1 after they tell you they are too busy. It will reroute your call without disconnecting. If it is too close plan to go to a passport agency.

Good Luck.
