can you or can't you?

We NEED final confirmation...can US residents use the voyages-sncf.com website to book and pay for tgv tickets? according to the site the US is NOT listed as one of the countries. However, responses to my other and others postings seem to have done it without a problem...please HELP!!! we are sooo confused....

also i assume i book both tix under my name, as there is no space on the website to put two separate names.

thank you

sb

Hi S,
Yes, book both tickets in one name.

You needn't have tickets sent to you in the US. Use the electronic ticket. ave it "delivered" in France. You will get a confirmation number. Make sure you have the same credit card that you used to make the reservation when you arrive at the station.

Alternatively, you can have the tickets delivered to your hotel. Remember to inform the hotel.

Have a good trip.

As you've noted, others HAVE done so, including me. They don't DELIVER to US, that's what the message is about, but you can buy tickets to be picked up when you get to France. You must buy, not just reserve, and you will be given a comfirmation # that you will need to pick up the tickets, along with the CC used to purchase.

I have made reservations 3 times and acquired the paper ticket in France a day or two before riding the train.

You cannot ride it until you get there, so I see no problem in waiting to acquire the ticket until you get there, unless, of course, you want to leave immediately after you arrive.

Each time in the past, as recently as this past September, I went to Gare Montparnasse to complete the transaction. The name of the credit card holder is important as are the confirmation code letters. I also took my email confirmation in printed form.
That can be vital if the ticket agent does not speak English, which is usually the case in my experience.

Also I was asked for my credit card again for final identification. The agent wanted the same card I had used originally. I do not know what they do if you do not have the same card. I make sure to use the same card both times to avoid that difficulty. And, your passport comes in handy, too.

But in three tries at acquiring ticket from home over Internet for acquisition in France, I have had no real problems. Just make sure that you key in the exact, accurate dates and times you want to travel particularly if it is the TGV because you must have a seat reservation.
There is also a phone number for an English speaking operator. The number I have for English speakers is
08 92 35 35 39 (English)
You will need to preface it with 011 and 33 for the country code.
I got at first French music and then a French language, but there was no problem when I asked to speak in English.

Hi S,
The SNCF people don't care who is riding the train, only who is paying for the tickets.
You needn't worry that you and your companion have different surnames. They expect that in France.
Make sure that you have the same credit card with you that you used to make the booking. If you don't have it they will not give you the ticket that you have already paid for.
