Can you help identify thie location?

Hello

I'm wondering if anyone recognises this location? (I've added image links below)
I'm fairly certain it's around the Italian / Swiss border as we were driving from
South Wales to Southern Italy (early 1970's).
I'm driving this area later this month and it would be wonderful to revisit!!

Many thanks in advance.

possibly the bridge is the Ponte d'Exilles in Piemonte or Ponte di Avise in the val d'Aosta.

Am thinking maybe he other picture was taken somewhere along the Gran San Bernardo pass

but those are just guesses

The second picture is the Bellevue hotel in the Simplon pass. I recognised the mountains, but the hotel looks a bit different now.

Not all that different! Wonderful you were able to nail it.

Presuming both pictures were taken the same trip, it wouldn't be likely that bridge is one of the ones I suggested. Too far west.

Yes, I think that also the bridge is in Switzerland, it looks a lot like this one:

Same road. However, seems to have been completed in 1978 so I am not sure it would have been there in the early 70's.

I was also thinking that the bridge in the OP's old photo might have since been replaced by a modern bridge.

The photo looks like the kind people take when they have a crossed a border or are about to cross a border.
