Can I book train from Italy to Austria

I want to book a train from Venice to Austria and if I am correct from my reading I cannot get an e ticket outside of travel within Italy. I am booking over the internet from New Zealand and want to do it now as a lot of the trips on the day i want to go are saying NO for purchasing already. There are now only two trips available for booking and they are night trips. The trip will be for 22Oct but feel if i wait until i arrive in italy they will be full. I know a travel agent will do it but I want to have a go if it is possible myself.

HI G,

> a lot of the trips on the day i want to go are saying NO for purchasing already.

It's not that they are sold out, it's that trenitalia doesn't offer many routes from Italy to Austria online.

Also look under "Promotions" for
"Vienna starting from 29 euros with the Allegro trains
On the ALLEGRO “Strauss” and “Stradivari” Eurocity trains, leaving from Venice, 29 euros for a seat in 2nd class.
On the ALLEGRO “Tosca” Euronight train, leaving from Rome, Florence, Bologna, and on ALLEGRO “Don Giovanni” Euronight train, leaving from Venice to Salzburg or Vienna: 29 euros for a seat in 2nd class; 49 euros for a couchette in a 6-place compartment; 59 euros for bed in a 4-place Comfort car; 69 euros for bed in a 3-place compartment; 99 euros for bed in 2-place compartment; 129 euros for bed in single compartment".

Thanks Ira for that info. I will check those specials and see what comes up. Maybe my travel agent will have access to the NO ones.

try Budget Europe Travel Service.

http://www.budgeteuropetravel.com/

They were very helpful when I was traveling from SZ to Venice last year.
