He's now told me to stop e-mailing him about it, that he is dealing with it and won't respond further on this topic. I am very, very worried and also very angry, but I can do nothing further to make him get medical care. I have passed on all the information you have given me, and I thank you all for that. I will let you know if I ever hear that he has taken care of this.

artsnletters - Ok babe, do as he says. Be assured you have done your 'bit' and more, so time to relax and let what will be, will be. As a mom & grandmother I find it hard to 'shush' at times but gradually I'm getting the message!
Stop worrying - it won't help. My thought are with you, Tod.

Ah artsnletters - that sounds familiar. As the mother of three sons I have had that response before now.
All you can do accept he is an adult (sort of) and has to make and learn from his mistakes.
I think if it really was any serious illness he would have got help by now, if only because he would be too ill not to do so.
Letting go is hard, but in this case I think you have to. Getting yourself in a state will only result in you getting ill, and that will help no-one.
A big cyber hug from me.

I am so sorry, artsnletters. Sadly a lot of young adults think they "know it all", they learn much later in life that they didn't. Speaking from experience of course, mine and regarding all the young adults we have had in the family over the decades.
You know my good thoughts are with you and that Greg will get whatever medical care he needs.

I can't imagine how worrisome and frustrating that must be! But I am glad to know that he's been in touch with you and that he at least has the information you worked so hard to get. Sending lots of good wishes your way. . . .

There is another aspect to this that you son ought to consider. He's walking around with an unknown illness which may be contagious, he doesn't know, and doing nothing about it. That is very irresponsible.
On no account should he get on an airplane and pass it round the air system to everyone else.

Well Lifeman there hasn't been a mysterious outbreak of some terrible Lurgy in Leiden so I think it is safe to assume Greg is not infecting Europe with whatever he has. I would think if it was contagious it would be obvious by now, three weeks after artsnletters original post.
He has obviously already been on a plane or two in order to return from India to the Netherlands.

OK! I got word this afternoon that Greg saw a doctor at the free clinic, has an appointment for more tests on Monday, and will have the results next Friday.
Huge sigh of relief. At least until we found out what he has.
