Calling all Houstonians -- Should We Try to Have a GTG?

All this talk of get togethers (Dallas, San Antonio, NJ, etc.) is making me jealous! Anyone interested in a Houston GTG?

I'd love to be there if I'm in town, Susan, so keep me posted. I don't have any immediate plans to be there as of now, but who knows what might happen this year.

Topping for more Houstonians or Houston regular visitors.

I'm not a Houstonian today, although I was born there. Is an Austinite welcome?? I have family in Houston and go there often on weekends. I am going to the Dallas GTG on 3/19, but would love to join yours if it's on another weekend.

I just posted this on the US board....on this topic:

Message: I would love to attend a Fodors GTG in Houston. Count me in! Several years ago we had an all-Texas one in Austin TX. Four of us traveled over from Houston and there were several from the Austin area. Several women drove down from Dallas. It was great fun, and I made a longtime friend there. It was a hoot. People brought their travel albums and we all told tales of our travels. Great fun!
I'm going to England YEAHYEAHYEAH in early April for ten days, but I'd love to do something after, say, April 20.
----------And OF COURSE PM is welcome...I bet I know who you are!

Dear "ballbuster,"
so that means you want to come, too, right?

The end of April would work for me. Let's see who else is interested.

Any suggestions for a place to meet are welcome too!

So far (on the US forum) we have suggestions for meeting up sometime either the weekend of April 23 - 24 or April 30 - May 1. How do these dates work for everyone?

Okay, y'all ---

We've picked a place and location. The Houston GTG will be on Saturday, April 23rd at Teala's at 4:00 (for a happy hour). Teala's is located at 3210 W. Dallas St (near the W. Gray area - just east of Shepherd). Their website is www.tealas.com.

I'll call and make reservations for their patio, but if you think you might come, please send me a quick e-mail at [email protected], so I can get in contact with you later to get a more accurate head count as the time gets closer.

Bring your spouse, your friends, your patents, your kids, whomever you want. And bring your photo albums too!

See y'all in April for a margarita and some good stories!

That sounds great, thanks for organizing this GTG. I would bring my photo albums, but in recent years, all my photos are on CD's.....

Oh no! I'm so sorry, but I just realized that April 23rd is the start of Passover. (I need to get a better calendar.)

Are y'all up for switching the GTG to the following Saturday -- April 30?

Hi, KateIP. Yes, the Austin GTG was fun. It'll be good to see you again.

The 30th works for me too.

IT'S CONFIRMED!!!

I have a reservation for us at Teala's at 4:00 on Saturday, April 30th on their patio. (The reservation is for 12 people, but I'll get a head count when we get closer and adjust the number as necessary.)

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!
